Last day in front of Santa Cruz

Monday was the last trip for my opener run in Monterey Bay but the bite was pretty good, we ended up with 7 fish for the 4 anglers. The grade was nothing to write home about but they bit better than the day before with one great 14 lbs fish that came on the old red crocadile. We had a steady scratch bite going all day with most fish coming down deep at 200+ ft on the downriggers in 220-270 ft of water. I canceled the Tuesday trip due to weather forecast and it looks like the wind will settle back down later this week down there. Thanks for all the calls and bookings as it was fun to fish 11 trips in 10 days on my old stompin grounds. I’m sure I’ll do it again next year but now it’s time to focus on our upcoming season at home in Eureka out of Humboldt Bay. May 1 opens the pacific halibut, May 10th is our salmon opener, and May 15th rockfish and lings are fair game. We’ll see when the tuna make their showing this year, it could be an early year. Think we will need to get some salmon early this year if the warm water comes close by Aug it makes them a bit harder to find. Give me a call or send a note to get booked for the dates you want.
