Shallow Pacific Halibut

We slogged north off of Trinidad today on a ocean that got better by the hour and got rewarded with 2 standard edition north coast pacific halibut. Fish were 25 and 31 lbs. We had one other bite that did not stick. We tried at 50 fathoms for no fish and slid into a waypoint from the past and got the 3 bites around 35 fathoms. The ocean is looking great for our tuna adventure tomorrow and we hope to load the boat on a flat ocean. I am booked up through the end of the Aug halibut season but salmon is still limit style fishing, the tuna water is getting closer and closer, and I am hopeful we will have enough quota for a sept halibut opener on the 1st. Call to get booked for a trip.
